Most of our products are made for home laundering (see below for items that we recommend be professionally dry-cleaned or laundered). They are oversized when cut in order to allow for the appropriate amount of shrinkage. Please pre-wash all of your washable linens prior to use in order to allow them to arrive at the proper size.

We urge you to wash your linens separately from other items. Zippers, buttons and other rough surfaces may damage the long staple fibers causing pilling.

We recommend our SDH Fine Fabric Wash (available at many stores that carry our products) or another mild laundering product to safeguard your investment. We also strongly recommend that whatever detergent you choose, it not have brighteners or other bleaching agents as this will eventually fade colors and inherently weaken the fibers. Also, be sure your machine agitates with detergent BEFORE you add your linens, as this will avoid any detergent coming directly in contact with the fibers - which may cause bleaching or damage to them.

We do not recommend fabric softener. Remove your load promptly from the washer, shake the items and line dry or place in dryer when advisable.

! A Note regarding Terry Towels: Because our towels are made with fine cotton that is inherently coated with oils, several washings are required of our 100% cotton terry towels for them to reach their utmost absorbency. If you would like to speed up the process of oil removal, you can add white vinegar to the final rinse cycle. It is particularly important with bath items that you not use fabric softener as it coats the fibers and decreases the absorbency.

BE CAREFUL! Skin products with alpha hydroxy and certain aloe vera ingredients may cause fibers to discolor.

We recommend that our matte lasse products along with coverlets and coordinating shams and bedskirts all be professionally cared for. These items are heavy and large and should be entrusted to a launderer specially equipped to clean and care for fine linens. The professional should pre-measure the item and block it when wet to yield the best results.

Line drying is a wonderful way to care for your linens. Take care to hang items in the shade (direct sunlight will fade fibers). There ís nothing like line-dried sheets for crisp, wrinkle free freshness! However, for those of you who don’t have the time or the space we recommend that machine dryable items be dried at a low setting - an extreme hot (or even cold) temperature shocks the fiber and decreases its life. Remove items immediately after drying and smooth out wrinkles with your hands as you fold them. If you plan to iron, you may want to remove items when they are still slightly damp. Do NOT over dry your fine linens. Try our SDH Fine Fabric Dryer Sachets in your dryer at home for a fresh clean lavender scent. These sachets are filled with 100% pure French Lavender Blossoms - no chemicals or synthetic fillers for us! The combination of the dryer’s warmth and your damp fabric acts as a steamer, releasing the renewing scent of lavender. These sachets are available at many stores that carry our products.

Washing, drying, and everyday use will relax the fibers in your fine linens giving them beautiful appeal and wonderful softness. Linen is known, especially, for becoming more relaxed and softer with age. Also with age comes a decreased likelihood of wrinkling. Many of our most popular products feature Italian Jacquard weaving. These weaves become more three-dimensional with laundering and use. This adds to their depth and beauty. Should you wish to iron items, remove them promptly from the dryer or when they are still damp and use a hot, steamy iron. This makes it easier to remove wrinkles, particularly in linen fabrics. A hot iron will restore sheen and luster to a sateen weave as well.

Store linens flat and out of direct sunlight. Exposure to direct sunlight will fade fibers.
